FDA Cautions Dog Owners About Chicken Jerky Treats

The FDA has reported and increase in owner complaint regarding dogs becoming ill after eating chicken jerky treats imported from China. The illness can occur anywhere from a few hours to a few days after consumption and includes the following symptoms:
- Loss of appetite
- Lethargy
- Weakness
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea (sometimes with blood)
- Increased thirst
- Increased urination
This illness can be very serious and there have been deaths reported. So far the FDA has been unable to identify a causitive agent. Consult your veterinarian if any of these symptoms occur.
